Getting Creative with Trades: Campers, Motorhomes, and Jet-Skis?

Every new season brings around a few more interesting events at Reuthers. One of the most relevant so far in 2009 has been the Creative Trade-in. For example, on our lot right now is a 1997 Bounder motorhome and it gets looks all the time that say, “What’s that doing here??”

Almost on a monthly basis I see Doug Reuther help customers trade in popup campers, upright campers, motorhomes, motorcycles, and yes - according to local legend - a Jet-Ski.

There’s lots of reasons why it makes sense to these customers: keeping payments low, or saving on sales tax, or putting enough down to get the best interest rates… some are trading in enough to own their new vehicle outright.

Whatever the need, Reuthers makes it work. Creative trading happens all the time so don’t be afraid to suggest it!

Fact Sheet: What 2009 Auto Sales Tax Deductions Mean to St Louis

President Obama signed “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009″ into law on February 17, 2009. The law includes a new consumer tax deduction to purchase a motor vehicle during 2009. Lets break it down:

  • Provides a new tax deduction on 2009 income taxes for “qualified motor vehicle taxes”.
  • Qualified motor vehicle taxes include any State or Local Sales or Excise tax imposed on the purchase of a qualified motor vehicle.
  • Qualified motor vehicles include passenger automobiles or light trucks with a weight rating not exceeding 8,500 pounds.
  • Applies to NEW vehicles only.
  • Deduction allowed even if you don’t itemize deductions.
  • Limit on Price: New vehicle price cannot exceed $49,500.
  • Income Limit: Phased out for taxpayers making $125k singly or $250k jointly.
  • Effective date: PURCHASES FROM FEB 17,2009 – JAN 1, 2010

So while this does not affect st louis used f-150 purchases, deducting sales tax through a new car purchase can assist an upgrade to a new Ford. If you are unsure which move is right for you, call Doug Reuther at 636-464-9000.

Reuthers Adds Carfax Integration to Online Used Car Listings

You may notice a new icon available on every st louis used car at Reuther-auto.com. It’s the FREE Carfax sign: when we run a carfax on our vehicles they immediately become available to you for public viewing!

If the vehicle you are looking at doesn’t have the full carfax showing, it probably just hit our lot today. We get a lot of trackers following vehicles on a daily basis (perhaps our selection of St. Louis used f-150 inventory) that might find a truck traded in 15 minutes ago… if this happens to you: Call Doug Reuther Sr at 636-464-9000 and tell him to hurry up and run that report for you. Chop chop. It will be available within seconds.
